This first two photos are ones that I have previously taken. They are both taken in Bariloche, Argentina, during the summer (their winter). I love the lighting on both of them and I really like the fog and the mountains above the clouds in the second one. The other photos are taken along the seacoast in New Hampshire. I stopped at several different spots to try to capture different angles and images of the seacoast. This is mainly the Rye and North Hampton area. They were also taking later in the day,, when the sun was coming down, which gave me a variety of lighting options. For these images I played around with my camera a lot and took into consideration the elements we have been learning about, such as framing, using flash, lighting and ISO levels. 

Framing Photos

I found this assignment kind of challenging. I really wanted to think outside the box again and not just put an object in front of a frame (even though I do like that look!). I tried to incorporate mostly nature and people into my photos this week. The photos are taken from Vermont all the way to the seacoast of New Hampshire. I tried to take advantage of any opportunity I could to take a photo this past week. 

 For this assignment I did take countless photos. I played around with flash, composition and points of view for each photo. I also gave changing the ISO a shot on a couple of them, I did find how it makes a difference dependent on lighting.

Monochromatic and Analogous Photos

I chose to use analogous and monochromatic for the two photos. I used items that I had around my room. I really enjoyed taking these photos and putting together situations that fit any of the color categories. It took me a few times before I found a combination that I actually liked. This assignment really made me think out of the box and I enjoyed having to use my creative mind.

The first photo is actually taken on a shelf I have painted in my room and I used the natural light and lighting from around my room to create the shadow effect. For the second photo I took the items from several different angles and had a hard time choosing one, but after looking at them many time I decided I loved the angle of this best. I especially like how it captures the ruffles and top shape of the glass vase. 

Macro Photos

I love looking through fashion magazines and was inspired to take macro fashion photos myself. I really enjoy the detail in clothing and accessories. Once I started taking images it was hard t choose what to not take photos of, there were endless combinations! My favorite piece is the one of the necklace. It was so much fun to photograph that necklace since there was so much diversity to do with it. Overall, I really enjoyed this assignment and would like to continue to take macro photographs more often!

Point of View

I choose to take photos of some of the seashells I have collected. I love the first photo the best; I like how the seashells are captured up close while still maintaining the view from the top of the glass. It also gives the illusion of the seashells being farther away than they are. I did not want to include just two top photos, even though they are my favorite so I choose another photo from the side. I wanted one of the pictures to capture the whole glass jar while clearly seeing the shells placed inside. In the second photo my favorite part is the sea glass placed on the left. It was what first caught my eye when looking at this photo. I love the simplicity of the image in general.

I liked taking photos from different angles. I think that the different angles can change the viewer’s opinion of the photo. I did not like all the angles I took the object from. I found that certain angles did not capture the shape of the glass jar, some of the seashells or clarity in what the photo was. I also found that from certain angles objects could seem displaced. Another key element is lighting, which can be vastly impacted based on the angle.
